Memorial Day is coming up soon, and that means June will be here before you know it. We are heading into the heart of digging season in Texas, and we want all excavators and crews to not only be careful and take precautions in the heat, but also exercise care in digging!
If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when an underground gas line is hit by accident – the popular Mock Line Strike/PipelineResponse events are already underway. If you haven’t been to one, take a look at this coverage of a recent event here to get an idea of what’s in store when you attend.
Upcoming events for June are scheduled as follows:
June 7 Fort Stockton info
June 12 Midland info
June 19 Mesquite info
June 21 Fort Worth info
June 26 Denison info
June 28 Gainesville info
All of these events are free to attend – just like calling 811 to get underground utilities located before a dig is also free. Need we remind you that it’s also the law in Texas?
If that’s not enough, there are also PLENTY of Damage Prevention Council meetings being held across the state in June. You can see the whole list here. The DPC meetings are a great opportunity to exchange ideas with like-minded excavators, contractors and stakeholders about how we can continue to make Texas a safer place to work.
Your DPCs of Texas are open for you 24/7/365. The web page is here.
Our goal is to keep you digging safely. Having underground lines located prior to excavation reduces the chances of damage to less than one percent, which is a very good statistical group to be in. Don’t be part of the group that damages something underground in the United States every nine minutes! At Texas811, we took over three million inbound locate requests in 2017. Thanks for being part of that number – help us spread the word.
Until next week, safe digging!
